Other activities we enjoy participating in is chasing DX by way of DXpeditions organazied by various clubs and groups around the world. An example is the BS7H Dxpedition from Scarborough Reef in 1997.
Special Events and numerous contests are also held regularly throughout the year.
Some examples of contests excluding Field Day include SSB, Digital and CW. They are sometimes described as Sprints, run for the bacon and others.

There are specialty activities that encompass Islands on the Air, lighthouses on the air, working grid squares and county hunting to name a few.
Special events include such activities as different clubs working from a nautical landmarks such as the Queen Mary in Long Beach, CA, and military ships permanently docked in ports around the country.
